UWFDM-1111 Initial Nuclear Performance Evaluation of the FIRE Ignition Device
نویسنده
چکیده
Nuclear parameters for the FIRE ignition device have been determined. These parameters included nuclear heating, radiation damage, and magnet insulator dose. Nuclear heating values as high as ~40 W/cm are deposited in the invessel components. End-of-life damage is very low and will not limit the lifetime of the chamber components. The peak end-of-life insulator dose is 1.5x10 Rads. The total nuclear heating in the 16 TF coils was estimated to be 27 MW.

UWFDM-1162 Nuclear Considerations for FIRE
Nuclear analyses have been performed for the baseline design of the Fusion Ignition Research Experiment (FIRE). Nuclear heating, structural radiation damage, and magnet insulator dose were evaluated. Critical issues requiring additional R&D effort include low-temperature embrittlement of copper and identifying insulators that can handle a dose as high as 1.5x10 Rads under the FIRE load conditio...
متن کاملUWFDM-1134 Nuclear Analysis of the FIRE Ignition Device
Neutronics and activation calculations have been performed for the FIRE design with different first wall design options. Modest values of nuclear heating occur in the machine components. Magnet insulators that have radiation tolerance to 150 MGy should be used. The operational schedule allows for decay of short-lived radionuclides between pulses resulting in low levels of activity and decay hea...
متن کاملEffect of Initial Temperature and EGR on Combustion and Performance Characteristics of Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition Engine Fueled with Dimethyl Ether
Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) combustion is a pioneer method of combustion in which pre-mixed fuel and oxidizer (typically air) are compressed to the point of auto-ignition. HCCI engines can operate with most alternative fuels, especially, dimethyl ether (DME) which has been tested as a possible diesel fuel due to its simultaneously low NOx and PM emissions. In this paper a ...
متن کاملA Fire Ignition Model and Its Application for Estimating Loss due to Damage of the Urban Gas Network in an Earthquake
Damage of the urban gas network due to an earthquake can cause much loss including fire-induced loss to infrastructure and loss due to interruption of gas service and repairing or replacing of network elements. In this paper, a new fire ignition model is proposed and applied to a conventional semi-probabilistic model for estimating various losses due to damage of an urban gas network in an eart...
